Trust can apply to everything. Trust begins with loved ones and friends on to relationships with associates, acquaintances and on up to the media and your government. It’s now 240 years ago when our Forefathers warned us against the government becoming too big and more concerned with itself than with the concern of the citizens. It comes as no surprise that the Congressional approval rating and Presidential rating is the worst in history.
The early American newspapers were the most trusted and objective in history. With time the media has decayed to the point where under ten percent of Americans trust what the media has to say. Big business and their lobbyists have dictated what is reported with the spin they want to see. That amounts to propaganda akin to the papers they used to criticize years ago.
Media is all around us but the people don’t trust what they say in favor of their own findings from the internet. Seeing this trend our government has taken steps to regulate the internet and more. Does that increase or decrease your trust in the government?
Trust is a necessary ingredient for a relationship. Trust includes faith which is another element that’s been under attack by the powers that be. Faith was a cornerstone of which this country was built on that’s been abandoned. The absence has left a void from which the government continually fills with more useless government. Trust is a difficult thing to regain. The big question is does the media and our government know or care about our trust?
